And the adoption of a certain education, either in the textual sense or in the methodological sense, is closely related to the social, cultural, economic situations of that time. This is also the case with the Japanese education. Ever since the Second World War, due to various reasons the Japanese textbooks applied to middle school education in Japan have always been changing, especially the classical part which is generally supposed to be a reflection of cultural essence of a country. Based on the Japanese textbooks published by MITSUMURATOSHO press during a period of about 60 years from the Second World War to date, this paper makes a comparison between the different versions of the textbooks in terms of the classical literature adopted in these textbooks.
