| 内容記述 | The present thesis aims to investigate the formation of the resultative compound verbs in Modern Mandarin. The resultative compound verbs show CAUSE and BECOME in their semantic meanings, even their component verbs do not have the meanings in them. The recent studies have tried hard to find how CAUSE originates in terms of the component verbs. To resolve this puzzle, I will make a crucial use of the lexical event structure templates by Rappaport Hovav & Levin (1996, 1998). And based on one of the lexical conceptual structures, the arguments of the resultative compound verbs can be interpreted. | |||||
