| 内容記述 | This paper analyses the problems of Mimban(private)universities and colleges which are facing the challenge to contribute to the equality of opportunity in Chinese higher education. We examined the problems based on data collected from a questionnaire survey. The sample size was 1200 with a response rate of 81.2%. The question items included personal situations, family situations, fee paying and financial aid for student, the curriculum, the actual state of consciousness of employing etc. It is clear that Mimban universities and colleges always choose students from unsuccessful applicants for public universities and colleges. Mimban universities and colleges should set up their own enrollment system. The burden of tuition is so high that the family budget can not afford it. But the student financial aid such as reduction or exemption of tuition, student loans, scholarships, was not perfect. Their expressing dissatisfaction with the lectures and the curriculums shows there are some problems in the quality control systems. More than half of the students of Mimban college thought that they are more disadvantaged than the students of public universities and colleges, and the fact such as when using student discounts they have ever been refused show that the students of the Mimban universities and colleges are not treated equally by the society. In order to make Mimban universities and colleges to contribute to the equality of opportunity in Chinese higher education, we should solve the problems of enrolment, student support system, and the quality of education etc. | |||||
