内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 As a result of examination of magnetotactic bacteria found in Lake Sagata and a pond in Nogawa Park, Japan, crystalline sulfur inclusions have been often observed. The magnetotactic bacteria are living in eutrophic, sulfidic and fresh water environment. The magnetotactic bacteria often contain amorphous inclusions but the crystalline inclusions found have been determined as crystalline sulfur by electron diffraction and element analysis in this study. They have been considered to be a product of biologically induced mineralization (BIM) and to be ubiquitous biomineral in magnetotactic bacteria living in water-sediment interface environment.
