This fauna includes a new species, Metriolepis kuzuensis. Reassessment of the Yamasuge fauna indicates an Early Permian (Kungurian) age. In terms of palaeobiogeography, the fauna is characterized by a mixture of North American (West Texas) and Tethyan elements, and without Boreal elements.
