内容記述 | The effects of cell density on total K influx, ethacrynate-sensitive K influx, and the intracellular concentrations of sodium and potassium ions were studied in Simian Virus 40 transformed mouse fibroblasts (designated as SV3T3 cells). This study shows that total K influx increases with cell population density. The ethacrynate-sensitive K influx increases with increased cell density up to about 1.3 x 10^5 cells cm^<-2> and then decreases with a further increases in cell number. The level of [K]_i increases with cell density while the [Na] _i decreases up to about 1.25 x 10^5 cells cm^<-2> and then increases with further increase in cell number. In accordance with the above findings, the K^+ leakiness decreases in confluent cultures. The high level of K is correlated with the cell's continued ability to grow in a very dense culture. | |||||
