内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 In this paper, I focused on the experiences as an assistant curator in Niitsu Art Forum, which can be an example of typical public museums in Japan. Niitsu Art Forum was established in 1997 by Niitsu City, where is merged into Niigata City in 2005. In the history of Japanese museums, it came rather later, but not to have a permanent collection gallery made it seek for a new direction. The way is similar to the 3rd generation of museums which is put forward by Arata Isozaki. Under the museum policy “A First Step to Meet ART” , Niitsu Art Forum starts to provide many service to its users that have never seen in other museums in Niigata Prefecture, like opening on Monday (usually most of the museums are closed), Kids Time when the visitors are allowed to talk each other freely than usual, and also Time Nursery System on appointed days. This policy is applied to WHAT and HOW we should show. I examine specific exhibitions and related workshops: Hibino data on our times (2002), Seizo Tashima’s Installation Project (2007) and Hiromi Masuda Play the Glass (2010). It is worth noting that contemporary art, or more precisely, the artists themselves can always make a lot of possibilities, collaborating with many stakeholders such as volunteers, local artists, and local industries. In addition to that, our museum has been trying to new activities. First, as Moving Museum, we deliver art and artists (or musical players) to the schools. Then, as Virtual Museum, we began to use weblog, podcasting system, and mail magazine. Lastly, we provide a place where people can make something as Museum “I can take part in” . People have a lot of fun there and feel that the museum belongs to them. Museums have been where we store the “value”itself. For museums in our times, the value doesn’t have to be confined to their collections. We should now think highly of visitors’ experience as individual memory as much as past heritage, great memory of mankind. Ubiquitous museum as ideal database and museum where something happens “Now” and “Here” , both different vectors suggest one of the possibilities of museums today.
