内容記述 This brief article reports on a survey of grammatical knowledge of relative clauses acquired by adult Japanese-speaking learners of English as a foreign language. The learners’ knowledge of functional morphology, syntax, and semantic interpretation as to relative clauses were investigated through three tasks in the survey. It provides suggestive date showing different kinds of relative pronouns and clauses easier or harder to acquire between lower- and upperintermediate learners. These findings will lead to a further study based on a formal SLA theory.
