| 内容記述 | Although the Faculty of Science has attained satisfactory standards in its research activities, as facilitated by the progress in the means to evaluate them, the study of the development of education, for historical reasons, seems to be a relatively neglected area of research due to a lack of adequate methods for evaluating it and, especially, of comprehensive interest in it. As an initial step toward accelerating the improvement of education, we have conducted panel discussions on selected themes regarding current problems. The present paper outlines the seven forums held from March to December, 1998. Each discussion was composed of presentations by panelists (a brief summary was distributed to all members of the Faculty) and overall debates. The themes selected consisted of ; (1) An image of the future of the education at Niigata University. (2) A new curriculum for the Department of Environmental Science. (3) Foreign language education. (4) Information science education. (5) Articulation of natural science education in university with that in high school. (6) Suitable interdependence between general and advanced course education in the university. (7) Consistency of the education in advanced courses in the Faculty with that in the post-graduate school. The debates proceeded actively, and produced some ideas and plans that will materialize through appropriate committees in the near future. | |||||
