Because these production bases in Shanghai has won the first place of pass ratio among 37 cities in the inspection of residual agrichemical held in April, 2004. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to clarify the current situation of the production bases of export vegetables in Shanghai area. Firstly, we gathered materials and reviewed existing researches in order to obtain extensive knowledge about the issue. Secondly, we interviewed experts and local policy makers of Shanghai to understand their viewpoint. Thirdly, we visited two leading companies of production and export of vegetables to know how the quality and safety of vegetable products were controlled, what kind of system so called \u0027all year round supplying were practiced, and how foreign high technologies were introduced, developed and familiarized by these companies.
