| 内容記述 | The articles, which reported snow damage in Niigata prefecture for the past three winter (1975-76, 1976-77, and 1977-78), were collected from the newspaper Niigata Nippo, and a statistical analysis was made on them by the use of hand-sorting edged-punched cards. The number of the articles varied nearly in proportion to the depth of snow cover in each winter. In Niigata prefecture, it is considered that snow damage is mainly caused by the volume of snow. The greater number of the articles directly concerned with the traffic in each winter. Meanwhile, 152 accidents with casualties caused by snow were reported for these periods and the car accident occupied 53% of them. Therefore, it is the most important counterplan against snow damage to secure traffic facilities safely in snow season. | |||||
