内容記述 | Density measurement and collecting of daily snowfall were carried out at this institute facing the Sea of Japan in Niigata during 1982-83 and 1983-84 winter periods. Collected snow was melted to measure electric conductivity at 18℃ (λ_18). The results can be summarized as follows: 1. The mean value of the density (p) of daily snowfall is 0.133g/cm^3. 2. For snowfalls more than 5Cm, p ranges nearly from 0.07 to 0.15g/cm^3, and, for snowfalls more than 20 cm, p can be presumed about 0.1g/cm^3 (Fig. 3). 3. For snowfalls more than 5 cm, p is, on the whole, proportional to daily mean wind speed (V^^-), and relationship between the minimum value of p (p_min) and V^^- can be expressed by the following formula (Fig. 5): p_min=0.013V^^- + 0.020. 4. The directions of prevailing winds accompanied with snowfall in Niigata are WSW-NNW (monsoon type) and ESE-S (cyclon type) (Fig. 6). 5. In general, λ_18 of monsoon type snowfall (windward-the Sea of Japan) is larger than that of cyclon type snowfall (windward-inland). 6. λ_18 of monsoon type snowfall increases exponentially with V^^- (Fig. 7) and is inversely proportional to amount of snowfall (Fig. 8). | |||||
