| 内容記述 | For last 6 years 10 patients with leiomyosarcoma of jejunum or ileum were seen in Shibata hospital, the third department of internal medicine of Niigata University and the department of gastroenterology of Niigata city hospital. Clinical aspects and pathological findings of these cases were studied being compared with 120 cases previously reported during the same period in Japan. The diagnosis of small intestinal tumors was established preoperatively in half of all cases. Anemia and positive occult blood in feces were helpful to presume this tumor, and angiography and double contrast study of small intestine were especially useful to ascertain the diagnosis. Many of these tumors located in the proximal jejunum showing extracanalicular growth. Moreover, many of them were larger than 5cm in diameter and were accompanied by cavitation, ulceration or fistula formation. Only 4 patients of all cases including 120 cases previouly reported were alive more than 5 years after operation, and this fact showed very poor prognosis of small intestinal leiomyosarcoma. There was no direct correlation between the survival and the size of the tumor or the grade of histological malignancy (i.e. the number of mitotic figures) in our cases. | |||||
