内容記述 | Effects of lidocaine, mepivacaine, bupivacaine and epinephrine on intraluminal diameter of the pressurized porcine anterior spinal artery were studied using a micro-circulation analyzing system with a video dimension analyzer. Lidocaine, 10^<-3> to 10^<-2>M, induced vasodilation in a dose-dependent manner. By contrast, low concentration of mepivacaine and bupivacaine constricted the arteries, whereas high concentrations dilated them. Epinephrine dose-dependently dilated the artery. When 10^<-5>M epinephrine was added to lidocaine, the artery was dilated. The membrane potential was depolarized by 10^<-2>M lidocaine and 3×10^<-3> to 10^<-2>M mepivacaine. The present study indicates that choice of local anesthetics for spinal anesthesia is important for evaluating the spinal circulation since the action of local anesthetics on the spinal artery differs. Another important finding of this study is the constricting effects of low concentration of mepivacaine and bupivacaine, suggesting that spinal cord ischemia may occur when using these local anesthetics. It appears that addition of epinephrine to local anesthetics may prevent spinal vasoconstriction caused by these local anesthetics. | |||||
