| 内容記述 | Sports medicine has been recognized to be an unique field of medicine, of which the subjects are not only the patients with bone, joint and muscle injuries or other organ disorders caused by sports activities but also the healthy young athletes who are training actively for making better records. Most of medical school graduates are not interested in sports medicine in Japan. However, the number of young doctors majoring in sports medicine are gradually increasing, although most of them are orthopedic surgeons. We are expecting that young physicians, pediatricians or psychiatrists will work up the interest in this field. In Niigata-ken Niigata Sports Medicine Society, which was build in 1984 as the only one research group of sports medicine in this area, has been promoting their research, particularly in the field of orthopedic surgery. In 1990 Niigata Amateur Sports Association organized a new committee, Sports Medecine Committee, which is non working for medical support of excellent young athletes or individual sports associations. There are 28 so-called "sports doctors" certified by Japan Amateur Sports Association in Niigata-ken, most of whom are participating as medical consultants in sports association. It is a good news that Niigata-ken has decided to build a new research institute of sports medicine in the near future. We hope that it will be useful to promote the research of sports medicine as well as to train promising young athletes. | |||||
