There is increasing awareness of the need for ethics education for medical professionals, and growing concern regarding how to best implement ethics education programs, in order to support medical staff in their effective management of ethical issues. It has long been posited that in order to produce ethical behavior, it is necessary to have "ethical sensitivity". Using the Rodgers (2000) method, a concept analysis was conducted to investigate how the construct described by the term "ethical sensitivity" is defined within the literature in the fields of medicine and nursing, in an attempt to clarify the hitherto rather nebulous concept of "ethical sensitivity", as well as the implications that ethical sensitivity might have regarding ethics education of medical staff.
