 note = {The aim of this paper is to evaluate the Spontaneous (Jihatsu) expression in modern Japanese grammatically. First， the view of Sawada(2006a)’s“ Spontaneous modality” will be examined. Next, the view of the Spontaneous expression and modal in the researches other than Sawada(2006a) will be considered. As a result， it will be confirmed that the Spontaneous expression cannot be regarded as modal. And finally it will be argued that the Spontaneous expression is an instance of an intransitive verb which establishes the corresponding relation with a transitive verb， and the Spontaneous expression does not form an independent grammatical category.},
