The taxonomy was devised by slightly weakening the standard of the ‘Indeterminate Ground between Positive/Negative Polarity’, which is proposed in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). This paper discusses how the categories of Mood and Modality may be captured, and how their interrelationships might be explained if the Polar Indeterminacy Standard is rigidly applied, with particular interest given to the study of Japanese Modality. In order to develop insight into the application of SFL, ideas from Teruya (2007) will be applied to our discussion, as they represent the first and most systematic study of the Japanese language based on the theoretical framework of SFL. Advantages of his research and remaining questions will be considered at the end of this paper.}, pages = {1--18}, title = {日本語モダリティ覚え書き(その二) : ムードとモダリティの区別}, volume = {6}, year = {2015} }
