For these purposes the author gathered data by recording conversations between students and teachers, and these between students and the author, and at the same time analyzed questionnaires and compositions written by students. The entire data was gathered from elementary, junior and senior high school students in Niigata city and its surrounding areas. Based on the obtained data, the actual usage of honorific expression of students is examined. Consequently, it became clear that, the language activities varies with a student's growth process. The 3rd grade elementary schoolchildren consider teachers to be "their absolute superiors" and use consistently honorific in conversation, although their knowledge of an honorific is deficient. In the data of the 6th grade elementary and the 2nd grade junior schoolchildren the intimacy and the various self-expressions to a teacher are observed overwhelmingly. They are attaching greater importance to the intimacy with a teacher than to a vertical relation. In the case of the 2nd grade senior high school students, they recognize the conversation with a teacher to be a public scene, and use honorific expression intentionally.}, pages = {195--213}, title = {学校における生徒の対教師敬語使用 : 新潟市とその周辺にある小学校・中学校・高等学校の調査結果から}, volume = {26}, year = {2003} }
