 note = {During World War II, in 1944, Saito Mokichi composed this tanka; Koraeruto does not mean……(listed in the volume entitled A Small Garden,1949).He had got the inspiration while watching a bunch of butterbur sprouting in the early spring and wrote the tanka above. The very vital point is that he employed the words ‘passiveness' and‘activeness' in it. The inspiration is considered to have been drawn from Clausewitz's strategic theory of ‘the pure resistance' said in On War(Vom Kriege, 1832-34).But Mokichi used the words just for expression, not for his assertion of his idea about On War. Mokichi is thought to have responded to On War in different way from Mori Ogai whom Mokichi respected and whose Japanese translation of On War he had read. Focusing on the vocabulary and expressions which Mokichi borrowd from Ogai's writings helps to study on his relationship with Ogai and some of Mokichi's personality., 現代社会文化研究　別冊「現代社会文化研究科プロジェクト報告書」},
