The significance of physical education has changed through the following phases: Education of the Physical Body, Education through Exercise, and Education in Exercise. Today, the task of PE teachers is no longer to give a command in general teaching to build up physical strength or to give detailed instructions by breaking down physical movements into elements so that every student can acquire the same sporting skills. Today's PE teachers are evaluated by the quality and ability of giving encouragement to people to acquire skills that enable them to engage in lifelong sports by helping them enjoy sports in accordance with their own ability, building up physical strength, acquiring skills, and learning to enjoy doing sports to the full. This leads to the next question of what these qualities and abilities are and how we can develop them to promote the growth of PE teachers.}, pages = {19--28}, title = {体育の意義の変遷と体育教師の力量の関係性}, volume = {37}, year = {2006} }
