Since the futurative use of the English progressive does not represent the actuality of the event a verb denotes, we can claim that it is not a semantic variant of the verb meanings, but rather a pragmatic expansion. To be more specific, although the basic meaning of the English progressive “limited duration” is still preserved in futurative use of the progressive, it is not the events the verbs denote but the elements outside the meaning of the verbs, such as expectations, plans, or anxiety, that have the limited duration. In addition, for the purpose of making the prediction more reliable, I propose adopting the event structure template containing “punctual” markers, which has been maintained in my previous study (2008).}, pages = {207--224}, title = {英語進行形の近未来を表す用法と「瞬間」}, volume = {43}, year = {2008} }
