Although the discourse particle okay appears in many sequential positions, it has a salient tendency to appear in base sequence second pair part and base sequence closing third positions. In such positions, the discourse particle okay performs culminating actions: sequential closure and transition; i.e., it indicates that a sequential activity has finished. However, when the discourse particle okay is deployed after a pre-sequence in base sequence first pair part position, its function is conspicuously different from its base sequence second pair part and base sequence closing third position functions. When deployed after a pre-sequence in base sequence first pair part position, the discourse particle okay adumbrates an extended telling; i.e., it foreshadows extended discourse.}, pages = {1--15}, title = {基本連鎖の第一成分における談話不変化詞Okay}, volume = {49}, year = {2010} }
