 note = {Traditionally, literary circles have appreciated the works of Senryu, the humorous poetry in the early Edo perjod. However, the works in the late Edo period have not had a good reputation because they compose similar subjects. The objective of this study is to understand why this situation appeared through the analysis of a note written by Utan, one of the Senryu poets, and studying the poems composed by Utan. It was found that Utan, along with the other contemporary poets of Senryu, had put a special emphasis on the elaboration and writing skills of Senryu. Meanwhile, poets often burlesqued the previous works. That is the reason why the similar subjects appeared again and again on Senryu works.},
