But the literary style is very important to understand this novel and the author. In 1917, there was a movement for promoting colloquial literature in China, called 5.4 literary revolution. Hushi was the leader of this movement and wanted to use the classical coloquial Chinese used in old novels to replace the classical literature. Luxun showed a different attitude by the style of his first coloquial novel, A Madman's Diary. There are two parts in this novel: the preface is written in classical Chinese and the diary is written in a unique style which is different both from modern coloquial Chinese and from classical Chinese. In the diary, some figures of speech, such as simile and metaphor are used. In this paper, we focus on the similes, metaphors in 'A Madman's Diary', and analyzing their role to unravel the process of uannibalism comes to reality in the madman's mind by using metaphors.}, pages = {123--138}, title = {魯迅「狂人日記」における文体と比喩表現}, volume = {57}, year = {2013} }
