For this purpose, the past and current Courses of Study since 1958, the series of the Guide Book for School Lunch since 1952, and the series of the Guide Book for Instructions on Food since 2007 were analyzed to examine the philosophies, fundamental principles and expected teaching methods of school lunch guidance in various periods of the post war era. The results of this analysis are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the philosophy of the school lunch guidance has continued to have an affinity with that of the currentShokuiku(Food and Nutrition Education) since the school lunch as an educational activity was first placed in the school curriculum.
