 note = {According to Chinese grammar rules, “shang(上)” and “qilai(起来)” are originally used as verbs. Both “shang(上)” and “qilai(起来)” can show a movement from a lower to a higher place or position. But there are many differences between “shang(上)” and “qilai(起来)”in meaning and grammar. To describe the status of a verb,“Shang(上)” and “qilai(起来)” are often put after the verb as“V 上” “V 起来”. However, in some cases, the position of “V 上” in a sentence can be interchanged with “V 起来”. But in some other cases, the position of “V 上” in a sentence cannot be interchanged with “V 起来” at all. It is because “V 上” can often be used to describe the continuation of the state. but “V 起来” is more often used to describe the beginning of a state.},
