The concept has undergone various changes. Currently, “dialogic organization development” is a prominent practice in businesses that want to build a future that involves interactions among different stakeholders. Although the literature on organization development in Japan has increased, the number of studies involving practice research has been low. Future studies on organization development in Japan should focus on practice research with regard to its transferability. In recent years, participatory action research, also called “community-based participatory research” (CBPR), is considered an effective approach in social work and public health science, which share several characteristics with organization development.
