In the 2010s,international students can use ethnic SNS to communicate with friends in their home countries everyday. Also,many people view news from SNS, where the news is mostly shared from peers with the same culture. It is possible for international students to retain ethnic culture by using these ethnic medias.To explore international students' media usage effects on their cross-cultural adaptation, a survey was conducted among Chinese international students(N=107). Media usage was examined by ethnic SNS usage and contact with host people, and news viewing(ethnic news and host news). Cross-cultural adaptation was tested by acculturation index scale(ie.,cultural maintenance and cultural assimilation) and sociocultural adaptation scale(SCAS).\\nThe results indicated that there was a positive correlation between ethnic SNS usage and cultural maintenance.The contact with host people was positively related with cultural assimilation. In addition, analyses revealed that news viewing was associated with both acculturation and sociocultural adaptation. These findings suggested that, to balance the perspective from different cultures, the awareness of using international students' host social media usage should be raised.
