The study was administered from April, 1989 to May, 1990. This study was aimed at developing an attitude which would enable the subjects to lead an active life in accordance with changes in environments and society. It focused on ticks in bedclothes and allergy, which pose a considerable problem for the healthy and comfortable living. The results follow : 1. The subjects' bedrooms were exposed to the sun inadequately and the ventilation was not sufficient. The floors were covered with tatami mats or carpets in many cases. The rooms of the primary school pupils were cleaned with vacuum cleaners 3.6 times per week and those of the university students 1.9 times. The futon mattresses were stored in the closets in many cases and the mattresses were dried and pounded for the purpose of removing ticks. Not many subjects recognized the cause of tick spreading. 2. Eleven teaching materials were developed for this study. All of them proved to be either very effective or effective on 5 point scale. The one with the highest points was that of exposing futon mattress to be sun with 4.5 points. 3. The survey was administered on the students' judgment concerning which of the 20 selected aspects of the area were considered to be useful. It was found that most students wanted to learn what was relevant to their family life. Next came to the effective use of materials and audio-visual tools in teaching. 4.
