The present paper proposes a hypothesis for seeking a determinant factor(s) and test this by conducting analytical studies. Since it was suggested that the prefectures in Japan and the cities and counties in Niigata where the mortalities from BTC were higher corresponded with rice producing areas, we began to search for a link between rice production and BTC mortality. Environmental factors taken into consideration included agricultural chemicals, dietary patterns which may be specific to rice producing areas and geological characteristics of the soil and drinking water. None of these factors, however, seems to have acted as a single cause in the etiology of BTC. On the basis of our analytical studies, we generated a multifactorial causation hypothesis: those who have a genetic susceptibility and a past history of gallstones or cholecystitis risk suffering from BTC (female gallbladder cancer in particular) when they are exposed to geographically specific environmental factors such as agricultural chemicals (e.g. diphenylether herbicides and their metabolites) in paddy fields. Based on the gas-chromatographic analysis of tap water, the water-borne route via the contaminated Shinano and Agano rivers is the most suspicious.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_7_publisher_7":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Niigata University School of Medicine"}]},"item_7_select_19":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"publisher"}]},"item_7_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA00508361","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_7_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"05677734","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yamamoto, Masaharu"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53321","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Endoh, Kazuo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53322","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakadaira, Hiroto"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53323","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Mano, Hiroshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53324","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Katagiri, Mikio"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53325","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yamazaki, Osamu"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53326","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Adachi, Yasuyoshi"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"53327","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2019-08-06"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"41(3)_127-138.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.6 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"41(3)_127-138.pdf","url":"https://niigata-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/6521/files/41(3)_127-138.pdf"},"version_id":"4b1717a4-1624-4e9d-90f3-2a7262f3f5c4"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Epidemiology of Biliary Tract Cancer in Japan : Analytical Studies","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Epidemiology of Biliary Tract Cancer in Japan : Analytical Studies"},{"subitem_title":"Epidemiology of Biliary Tract Cancer in Japan : Analytical Studies","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"7","owner":"1","path":["456","630"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2015-09-11"},"publish_date":"2015-09-11","publish_status":"0","recid":"6521","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Epidemiology of Biliary Tract Cancer in Japan : Analytical Studies"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":null},"updated":"2022-12-15T03:39:51.531909+00:00"}
