The body composition of fatty parameters, the Lee-index and retroperitoneal white adipose tissue weight (RPWT) were estimated at 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 days after hepatectomy. The serum total cholesterol concentration (Tch) and other valves including liver and kidney functions were also estimated. DSG 5 mg/kg increased Tch at 3 days after hepatectomy, then returned to the control level within an additional 2 days. On the other hand, RPWT decreased gradually following DSG injection, and a significanct decrease was observed 7 days after hepatectomy. No difference in Lee-index was seen among the groups. The food and water intake over 9 days and body weight gain after hepatectomy were similar among the three groups. DSG and FK increased blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels compared with the control.
