 note = {In Hida-Furukawa, Gihu Prefecture, vernacular urban houses which have traditional architectural style in the region, built from the 1950's are called “SHIN-MACHIYA” (new town house). The purpose of this study is to clarify developping process on facade of “SHIN-MACHIYA”. As a method, field survey, interview, etc., were used. Analysis was made from characteristics of facade and built year. Major results are as follows: 1)“SHIN-MACHIYA” can be classified by facade into 5 types as standard types, 2)“SHIN-MACHIYA” required a long time for establishment, 3)At first “SHIN-MACHIYA” gradually became decorative. But It finally settled down in a simple style.},
