The particle model refers to the model in which microscopic constituents of matter are represented by circles to indicate atoms, molecules, or ions. The textbooks by two publishers are examined first to find merits and demerits of the use of the particle model in elementary science. Based on the findings, lesson plans for the unit of solubility in the 5th grade science were developed and implemented to overcome the demerits. The use of simulation was included in one of the lessons. The effectiveness of the use of simulation was examined through the analysis of students' writings and drawings. The results indicate that the use of simulation helps students understand the random movement of salt particles in water when salt is dissolved. Furthermore, it is indicated that the use of simulation should be introduced only after students are motivated to find the reason for uniform density of salt water regardless of the depth in the tall container.}, pages = {99--115}, title = {小学校理科学習における粒子モデルとICT活用 : ものの溶け方の単元において}, volume = {13}, year = {2020} }
