A questionnaire was developed to reveal middle-school students’ misconceptions about mass based on the findings from earlier works in literature and the content that students learn about mass in middle-school science. Six categories were identified, and items were developed to cover the categories. A 30-item questionnaire was first used to collect data from college students (N=117). Then, a data collection was conducted in a middle school (N=275). The results indicate that motionrelated misconceptions about mass were strongly observed both in middle-school students and college students. On the other hand, misconceptions related to physical and chemical changes, conservation laws, and measurements of gases are reduced once students learn about mass in the 7th grade. A lesson design to help students undergo conceptual change about mass was developed using a conflict map. The focus was on the change of the motion-related misconceptions about mass. Limitations and future work of this study were further discussed.}, pages = {21--40}, title = {質量に関する中学生の誤概念の特徴 : 大学生の誤概念との比較を基に}, volume = {12}, year = {2020} }
