At first glance, \"- qi (lai)\" and \"- kai (lai)\" have contrary semantic features, but they are also sometimes both used as indicating \"starting and continuing\". Like: {下开/起}了牛毛细雨。(It began to drizzle.) In this example, \"- kai (lai)\" has an image of \"spread\" because it represents the \"departure to an unspecified direction on the space\". Therefore, in the case of expressing the meaning on the time of \"to start\", the semantic feature of the \"wide range movement\" is simultaneously included.
