The split of effects into stiffness and mass is attempted in the design sensitivity analysis. To achieve this, the elastic modulus and mass density are described in terms of the tunnel thickness. The stiffness and mass matrices can then be given by functions of the thickness. Through optimization analysis, it is found that the contribution of the stiffness and mass to the vibration reduction depends on the frequency.
