Research reported here relates to improved designs for wheelchairs, making them safer and more efficient. The relationship between the electromyogram (EMG) of the biceps and triceps and the driving torque at the different grip positions on the hand rim of the wheel, are analyzed for the first 'push' of the wheel on a level plane.
