The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology started the “female researcher support model development” operations (currently; program to supporting research activities of female researchers) using the special coordination funds for promoting science and technology in 2006 and created the supporting environment where female researchers can be fully active through the childcare support by the institution. The Shindai Sitter Childcare Support System was adapted in 2008 for the operations and recognized as a notable initiative that presents a novel gender equality and childcare model in which the students who received the prescribed training participate in the childcare support operation in the university.
