METHODS: In-home patients and their families who agreed to nursing student practicum completed a questionnaire. RESULTS: There were 71 valid responses (76%). Of those responses, 75％ felt satisfied with the acceptance of nursing practicum. Reasons to accept nursing practicum were “contribution to human resources development for in-home care,”“ mental health benefits from the acceptance of nursing practica,” and “relationship with the visiting nurse.” Benefits from the acceptance of nursing practicum were “satisfaction with student’s attitude” and “pleasure of contributing to student learning.” In-home patients and their families expected students to learn “considerate communication toward in-home patients and their families,”“ care in deference to personality,”“ the state of home care,” and so on. CONCLUSION: It is important that we focus on the enhancement of positive perceptions by in-home patients and their families.
