Types and functions of riffle-pool structures are described and furthermore hydraulic aspects in relation to the formation of riffle-pool structures are reviewed on the basis of existing studies. Forms and dimensions of riffle-pool structures are investigated systematically from the mouth to the upper area part of Nou-river. A certain regularity can be observed in the longitudinal variations of the length of pools. Based on the examination of important factors which influence the length of pools, a formula which expresses the length of pools is introduced. Each length of pools is determined by catchment area and gradient of river floor, i.e., the length of pools is proportional to the catchment area and inverse proportional to the square root of the gradient of river floor. The knowledge on the distribution of riffle-pool structures of river floor which is clarified in this paper should give a useful basis for river regulation works in harmonizing with natural river morphology.}, pages = {65--82}, title = {急流河川における瀬-淵構造の分布について : 能生川を事例として (大木靖衛教授退官記念号)}, volume = {19}, year = {1998} }
