The change of trace element concentrations, ^\u003c87\u003eRb/^\u003c86\u003eSr and ^\u003c147\u003eSm/^\u003c144\u003eNd ratios in andesite by chemical weathering supports dissolution of plagioclase by this process as indicated in Sagara et al. (1997). The ^\u003c87\u003eSr/^\u003c86\u003eSr and ^\u003c143\u003eNd/^\u003c144\u003eNd ratios, however, are almost constant, because Sr and Nd isotopic ratios among minerals have small variation. This is caused by its young formation age. The ^\u003c87\u003eSr/^\u003c86\u003eSr and ^\u003c143\u003eNd/^\u003c144\u003eNd ratios of surface waters in the Kanayama-sawa river are close to those ratios of andesites. However, ^\u003c87\u003eRb/^\u003c86\u003eSr and ^\u003c147\u003eSm/^\u003c144\u003eNd ratios are lower than the ratios of andesites.
