 note = {This report deals with heavy avalanche disasters which occurred in February 1999 in Tirol in Austria. Unusual heavy snowfall attacked the European Alpine Region during the winter in 1999. As a result a series of heavy avalanche disasters occurred in France, in Switzerland and in Austria. Especially in Austria hundreds of avalanches have occurred and in PaznauntaI thirty-eight peoples were killed by the impact force of two big powder avalanches. The author had an opportunity to investigate the disastrous damage situation in Tirol in early April 1999. Occurrence of avalanches and induced damages from them are outlined in this report.},
