 note = {This paper is the brief report of the 5th Asian Symposium on Academic Activities for Waste Management, which was held in Kuala Lumpur on September, 2002. Total 38 oral papers and 27 posters were presented in 4 different topics related with environment. During the symposium, participants were taken to visit the landfill site. Specific landfill technologies like impermeable liner system, leachate collection and treatment system, landfill gas control system etc. were utilized at that landfill site to ensure safe and proper disposal of waste with minimum potential environmental impact.},
