 note = {This is a report of 20 patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) / human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection treated in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Nagano Red Cross Hospital from January 1996 to September 2001. There were 15 male patients and 5 female patients. Their mean age was 39 years with a range from 27 to 67 years. Three female patients were foreigners and two were a married couple. All patients had been diagnosed as having AIDS/HIV infection at the first visit. The CD4 count which is related to the stage of the disease was available at the first visit in 15 patients. The value exceeded 600/㎕ in one patient. It was between 10-100/㎕ in five patients and below 10/㎕ in one patient. Including dental extractions, 12 patients underwent surgical treatment. Conservative dental treatment was performed in three other patients. There were no patients with complicated wound healing. Case report of a patient with oral signs charcteristic of AIDS was added., 1996年1月より2001年9月までの5年9か月間に長野赤十字病院口腔外科を受診したHuman immunodeficiency virus(以下HIV)感染者11名および後天性免疫不全症候群(以下AIDS)患者9名の計20名について臨床的検討を行い以下の結果を得た｡患者の性別は、男性15名、女性5名で、初診時の年齢は27歳から67歳(平均39歳)であった｡このうち3名は外国人女性であり、夫婦であったものが1組あった｡全例当科初診時にHIV/AIDSと診断がついていた｡15例で当科初診時に病期と関連があるとされているCD4値が把握可能であった｡600/㎕以上の症例が1例、10/㎕以上～100/㎕未満の症例が5例、10/㎕未満の症例も1例みられた。このうち3例に口腔カンジダ症が認められた。当科での処置内容は、観血的処置を行ったものが12例、歯科治療を行ったもの3例であった｡経過はどれも良好であった｡このうちAIDS患者で特徴的な口腔症状を示した一例についても併せて報告した｡},
