However, a judgement upon the possibility of training has been made only by clinical evaluation of oral movement and the ability of saliva swallowing during mouth care. In this study, We introduced and examined the usefulness of a videoendoscope in the objective evaluation of swallowing. We observed by endoscope the pharynx and larynx of 8 tube-fed subjects (1 male and 7 female) and 3 oral-fed subjects (1 male and 2 female), in which feeding function was considered as poor. Four oral-fed and 2 tube-fed subjects were judged to be at risk of aspiration. The remaining subjects (4 tube-fed and 1 oral-fed) were not considered to be at risk. The use of videoendoscope allowed objective and easy estimation of swallowing.
