Samples were mixed with a spacer solution (2% ampholine and amino acid mixture) at a volume ratio 1:3 and subjected to erectrophoresis at alkaline pH. UV monitoring revealed more than 15 peaks with a prominent peak (B1), which were tentatively classified into three groups (A to C). The CITP pattern was reproducible and not affected by the difference between healthy and patient urine except for the B2 peak adjacent to B1. There was a tendency that the more protein a urine sample contained, the broader the B2 peak became. The pattern was distinct from that of serum, cerebrospinal fluid and vitreous humor. This suggests easy identification of forensic urine specimens by this method. The height of B1 peak varried and correlated with color intensity and specific gravity of urine. Importantly, increases of some of several minor peaks was noted in about a half of samples; a high peak of A2, A4, A5, C2, C3, C4, C5 or C6 was detected in some samples. This indicates that some individuals exhibit their specific CITP patterns. The time coures of changes in peaks was also examined for 4 fresh urine samples and their stains. Storage for at least 3 days at room temprature did not affect the pattern of individuals.
