The Hanagasa dance originated from songs and dances performed during irrigation works in Yamagata Prefecture. Consequently, Hanagasa dance parades continue to be held today in regions where these irrigation practices were historically conducted, reaffirming these areas as the dance's birthplace. Meanwhile, in Yamagata City, a new Hanagasa dance based on dances from other parts of the prefecture was created for the purpose of local promotion, and a parade is held there. Since the Yamagata Hanagasa Festival parade began, Tendo City and Yonezawa City have also held Hanagasa dance parades as their summer events. While some of the Hanagasa dance parades that have spread in this way continue to be recognized as local events, others have ceased to be held due to the reorganization of the festival's content. This suggests that the selection of symbols other than the Hanagasa dance to represent the local area has allowed the festivals to emphasize their local characteristics.}, pages = {181--195}, title = {山形県における花笠踊りの受容と変遷}, volume = {77}, year = {2023} }
