In this study, we introduced the history of herbarium and specimen collections of NGU and their value for science education. NGU originated from the two normal schools: Niigata normal school and Takada normal school, which were established in 1901. Since 2012, NGU had been mainly collecting and storing aquatic plant specimens mainly from Japan and abroad. In NGU, 11,750 specimens of ca 2,100 taxa (196 families) of vascular plants and charophytes are registered in the database, and 12,000 to 15,000 specimens including the ones from normal schools are yet to be unsorted. Specimens collected during field classes in normal schools show the history of natural history education for students who want to become science teacher, and have high value for science education.}, pages = {111--122}, title = {新潟大学植物標本庫(NGU)の歴史および収蔵コレクションの特徴とその理科教育学的価値}, volume = {14}, year = {2022} }
