Although both languages are characterized by structural ambiguity, Chinese tends to further allow multiple interpretations than Japanese. The position of Japanese restrictive focus particles is relatively free and consistent with the dominant word order, resulting in structural ambiguity. Conversely, the position of Chinese restrictive focus adverbs is relatively fixed and deviates from the dominant word order, causing multiple interpretations. Both languages are prone to exhibiting structural ambiguity when a sentence contains complex predicate elements. Most focus particles cannot shift focus, while Chinese sentences with restrictive focus adverbs generally allow focus shifting with multiple interpretations.}, pages = {177--196}, title = {日本語と中国語の限定とりたて表現の解釈曖昧性と焦点移動}, volume = {13}, year = {2022} }
